Step 1 on Logo prodject
1.Research, defining, compare and contrast
1. The use of images to represent ideas and
qualities.
2. A symbol adopted by a company to identify their
product.
3. Symbol is in the definition of logo so they are
related by the fact that a logo is an adopted symbol for a company or business.
4. In my opinion the importance of learning logo
design is to help teach new techniques and to see how a logo is created through
experience.

steven w. symbolism
how symbolism works: symbolism is a form of advertising an idea to the viewer using a recognizable logo or icon to get the idea in the target persons head. it can also be used as an art form to express the way you feel about something. some examples are; when there is an anti circle with a cigarette in it, people know not to smoke there. Or how a handicapped sign is universal so people know not to park there.
How a logo works: logos are typically either completely graphic,or just uses a name in order to promote instant public recognition as a form of advertisement, commonly used by businesses to gain recognition.
Differences: symbolism is used to communicate something, logos are used to advertise something.
Similarities:t They both use graphics and words to get a point into someones head.
The value of learning how to make a logo design: It can come in handy in the future, for instance, if we ever were to start a business we would know what the logo should look like. It could also boost creativity of the designer.

Logos and Symbols
Logos are designed used by companies to convey what they are, what they do, or what they provide.
It's easy to tell through their logo that Starbucks makes coffee.
NASA's space themed logo is also easily understood.
While both logos and and symbols try to convey something using images, logos are much more candid than symbols, which are made to make you think. You don't need to interpret a logo that says coffee on it.
Learning how to design logos is very important for an artist. Logos are the most frequently seen pieces of art work in the world, and there's good money in designing Logos for companies.
Some inspiring designs:
And my concept map:
Symbolism and Logo Design - Compare and Contrast.
Symbolism works by creating a symbol that represents more than the
thing itself. Symbols are meant to be understood in all languages so that it's message is more easily understood.
The Christian cross can represents the whole several thousand year history that the religion has gone through but is mostly be associated with the crucifixion and reincarnation of Jesus.
Logos work by creating an identity for a company or group. Logos work best when they are memorable, simplistic and demonstrate the group's personality easily and quickly.
I don't even have to tell which fast food empire this goes to because of how world-wide and famous the double arches have become. They are the perfect example of easy to remember and simple in design.
The difference between the two is that symbols can represent a whole lot more than the image itself. Symbols could be as simple as national flags or as complex as things in stories that are meant to create emotions. Logos are meant to be easy, quick reminders as to which company made a certain product, which company is advertising to you, etc.
The value of learning the process of logo design is that, without this training, some people might create a company or a business with a hard to read, easy to forget, or just down-right ugly logo. Then, this person's business would have a harder time being successful. Some companies, for example, likely make a lot of money off of having a famous logo i.e. the golden arches of McDonald's or the "swoosh" of the Nike logo.

Symbols and logos.
Symbolism is the usage of an image to represent something without words,
something that is pretty universally understood, like Biohazards, or Radioactive substances.
Logos are different, they still convey the same message, but
typically represent products, services and brands, rather than
universal concepts. This is the logo of the internet browser
"Mozella Firefox"The logo looks like it ought to fit the company, given that the fox wraps around the globe and the bright colors emphasize speed and reliability, much like the internet they provide.
Logos and symbols share many of the same qualities, their simplicity makes them easily recognizable and easy to remember. This is because they are in their nature, the same. The only difference being that logos are privately owned, patented and restricted. While symbols can be used by anybody, for free!
There is quite a bit of value in learning logo design. Many companies pay thousands, even millions of dollars to artists who can design eye-catching and memorable logos for their corporations and products. Creating your own logo can have the same effects on things that you create and tag with your logo. It makes your product easily recognizable and memorable, and lets people know what's yours in the hopes they may look for your product instead of others.
There are quite a few logos out there, and some are more eye catching than others. But it varies from person to person. This is the german Volkswagon logo, and that can easily be seen
in the logo, a simple 'V' and 'W' character stacked on top of each other. Volkswagon is german for "The people's car" And so, it is fitting as both the logo and products are of simple, yet sturdy nature.
This logo comes from the popular art hosting website, DeviantArt. Allowing people to share their art to the internet. Art in all forms comes through this site, ranging from canvas paintings, to digital fan art. The logo is only the letters 'D' and 'A' and they are depicted in an offbeat and slanted font, representing the website's well, Deviance! Here is a web of my notable traits when it come to art, and looking at other types of art.

Logo Redesign Jacob Schmidt
Symbolism- something that represents an idea of belief that has a lot of meaning behind it and stands for an important message, like a flag.
Logo- is a design that represents a brand or person to link everything to them. Its personalized and tailored to the person or brand that it represents.
The difference between logos and symbols is that a symbol represents a meaning and a purpose more than a logo which i believe stands as more of something to recognize a brand or person by. A logo would represent a food brand, and a symbol would represent a country or religion.

I believe that this logo portrays the Vans company very well because of its simplicity and that really shows in their shoes, very simple but unique.
This logo represents nasa very well, it has a scene of space on it which portrays their actual purpose and the red stripe which kinda reminds one of a rocket going into space.
The Youtube logo is very simple but modern, the why they use the negative space in the red box to write the word "Tube". The red box reminds a person of a TV, but youtube is on the internet so its kinda showing how its the new TV and in a way it has become a new source of entertainment.

Arctic Wolf Leather- The white wolf for this logo makes sense due to the fact that an arctic wolf is white.
Ford- The cursive lettering shows Ford's attention to detail with both their logo and their intricate detailing with their vehicle.
Jack Daniel's Barbecue Sauce- This title stands for the Jack Daniel's original title only turned into a barbecue sauce. Old yet I grew up eating.
