Yes the artist was successful in creating a foreground middle ground and background. The main landscape is in the foreground. This in the ground that the character is running on. The middle ground would be the pill box bunkers just behind the main landscape. Finally the background is the forest you can see way behind both of those. The artist added shading and layering to the character model to make it look like some parts of him are farther back than other giving him the illusion that he is 3D. The biggest Element that is used in this piece is texture. The foreground looks rocky and the trees in the background look like they have needles or leaves on them. All the stones and bunkers have a gritty look to them to give them a more realistic feel.

Background Questions: Dale Wolff And Nick Sanford

  1. The overall style of our game is an eastern fantasy. It is combat based where the charter has to fight enemies while getting to the end of the level. Throughout the game our “hero” fights numerous foes and types of individuals. At every end level the “hero” fights a boss, the reason behind this is it is a motivation to look forward to, also when defeated you acquire a skill trait or weapon, etc
  2. Ken.
  3. In the beginning of time Ken lives in a small village that is attacked by enemy forces. No one is safe and everyone hides, Ken grabs his blade and fights for the good of the people. Our character has one simple goal. That goal throughout the game is to slay the warlord who sent forth the attackers to destroy the village. As a new lone warrior Ken sets out to reach his destiny.
  4. One of his traits is how adaptive to his surroundings he is. He’s not a master swordsman, but he is highly skilled. His strengths are swiftness and quick reflexes. Ken is of a normal origin, he has no supernatural abilities.
  5. He is only equipped of what he can carry, he is lightly armored. At times, his rage and anger can get the best of him and can hinder is progression of his journey. While Ken was a child, his parents we kidnapped by the warlord and his minions. He is on a desperate mission to find them and bring them back home safely.

  1. The Boss we picked for the game at the moment is the 5th level boss and his name is Kahn.

  1. Kahn is a monstrous oni demon who eats men and kidnaps children. He is 9 feet tall sporting wild black hair and wields a giant war hammer. Because of his mass build he was a carpenter for the warlord building the stairs to his monolith. Kahn was a previous human before the warlord transformed him, and because of this Kahn believed it to be strength giving to him.

  1. Kahn is extremely tough and his skin is rock hard. He wields a hammer that has the fire surrounding it, which is difficult to block or defend against. One of his powers is he smashes it on the ground creating a shockwave of flame. Other then that Kahn is an extremely skilled fighter and will not give up even if it’s the cost of his life.

  1. His reactions are slow due to his size and his weapon’s weight. Since he is of the fire origin, the element of water takes his flame ability away. And finally, his other weakness is that he is over confident and at times believes he is given the gift of immortality.

  1. The setting is a rather peaceful location surrounded by a calm forest and waterfalls. Rock formations are seen around the waterfalls, and it is early day. However, Kahn is beneath Ken’s very feet where he waits and hides for his next prey.

Branden and Ian's Game idea

A. The game is going to be a shooter.

B. His name…the Chosen One

C. This is the story of the Chosen One. Now, the Chosen One was once nothing more than your average garage band guitar player. He would spend every Friday and Saturday getting hammered and jamming with his band. He is 21 years old. His favorite bands include: Metallica, Slayer, Megadeath, Anthrax, Disturbed, and Godsmack. He started playing guitar at the young age of 2, and it came naturally to him. He tried playing every genre, but he instantly fell in love with heavy metal music. All other music sucks!!! As he grew up he continued to play heavy metal on his Flying V guitar and eventually started a band, but his band sucks terribly and they can’t get a gig anywhere. That’s why he is still stuck in a garage, regardless of how amazing his shredding skills are. It was the day of December 1st, 2008, while jamming with his band, he decided to hit the devil note at the end of one of their tunes. The song was slowly coming to an end, so he jumped up. Struck a pose, and came down wailing on the devils note. The ground then began to shake, the garage in which he stood started collapsing around him and he became engulfed in flames and he was transported to a different world. It was a heavy metal world that was being over-run by hipsters. He is now the Chosen one and must destroy the hipsters and bring peace back to this once all metal world.

D. His strengths are creating fireballs when playing his guitar and creating lightning when shredding on his guitar. His weaknesses are hipster music and any other music that isn’t metal.

E. The enemies name…Hugo

F. Hugo is the reason that the metal world has been over-run by hipsters. He is their ruthless leader who will do everything in his power to destroy metal or anything that resembles it. He has been stuck in the metal world all his life and for some odd reason he hated it. The very idea of heavy metal wanted to make him puke. As he grew up he decided he wanted to take over and destroy the metal world and make it a hipster world. He then rounded up a bunch of hipsters and began his invasion on the world.

G. Hugo’s strengths are his hipster goons and crappy music. His weaknesses are heavy metal and awesomeness!

H. This battle will commence in the heart of the metal world, OzzFest.

Mark and Phillip

1. Yes the artist did have a foreground, background and middle ground because the foreground is where the character is.The middle is the front trees and the background is the far trees.
2. On the trees in the back, the part more towards the middle is lighter and the as it goes out to the sides it gets darker to make it look 3D.
3.There are elements and principles in this picture. Some elements are lines, shapes, color. There are lines that are incorporated into the trees. There are all kinds of shapes. There is color that is in all of the foreground stuff. One principle is balance which there are big and small shapes that balances them.

Pixel art Andreas and Rory

1. The artist was successful in creating a fore ground middle ground and back ground, because the water that seems to be in the front of the level represents the foreground, the three grassy hills represent the middle ground, and the clouds and the sky represents the back ground. to create these the artist used shading.

2. To create the illusion of making the characters look 3D the artist used shading, shapes and texture.

3. Other elements of art and design that the artist used are repetition, shapes, size, and shading.

Andreas Degraeve and Rory Brown

Video Game Questions Cheyenne and Marek

1.  1. Do you think the artist was successful in creating a foreground, middle ground and background? Elaborate why or why not.

The artist did do a great job with a fore-ground, middle-ground, and background. The "dirt" is shaded, making it look closer to us than the grass. Sonic is standing on the fore-ground of the grass and the "dirt wall" behind him. The background is the sky and the mountains off in the distance. We know it far away because they are small in comparison to the main character.
2.  2. Describe how the artist created the illusion of making the characters and objects look 3D.

The artist put highlights and low-lights on the character and the setting to make it look more 3-Dimentional. The darker parts make it look further back or in a shadow when a highlight makes it look rounded or closer.

3.  3. Discuss how the artist used other elements and principles of art and design and implemented them into the image. Be very descriptive.

The artist used many different elements of art and design. They used line in the grass in the middle-ground, and the mountains in the background. Shape is evident in this game because there is geometrical shapes such as the squares of the dirt or the rectangles of the grass but there are also more organic shapes like the roundness of the character's head. The size of the objects makes the viewer have a better idea of perspective. Here the main character is placed against a mountain to show that it's off in the distance. The artist also uses shading and value change frequently, from the grass to the dirt and even to the character's body and head.

Nathan Green, Aaron Olson 8 bit Environment

The artist was successful in creating a foreground, middle ground and background. The foreground is the dirt and water where the characters are running around, the middle-ground are the glacier, tree and mountains that the characters are moving in front of. The background is the sky, and clouds that are moving above and behind the mountains.
The artist made things look 3D by shading the objects and layering the objects, to create the foreground, middle ground, and background.
The artist used the direction and value of the colors to create the 3D effect. He also textured the water and the glacier. The size of the glacier and mountain dwarf the characters, also adding to the 3D effect.

16 bit game

1. yes, because the characters are sped out between the front and the middle. will the sky is the background.
2. the artist makes the illusion of 3d objects by adding different shads and highlights to the characters and the background.
3. the others elements the artist uses are the different shapes in the clouds, the line work for the flower of the ship and the characters, and texture to make the ship seem like wood, and to make the boss look likes he's on fire.
by Kara and Jacob

Dale Wolff And Nick Sanford 8-Bit Concept.

We believe so, because you can clearly see the foreground where they are running. And then the middle ground is the trees and bush's farther back. And finally the background you can see clouds and something in the distance?
This game does not create depth very well because of how it looks, but you can see shadows on both the characters and tress. With the bottom blocks you see some depth as there is darker and lighter tones.
With Kirby there is always color and different line techniques that show the player mood and a "cartoon" feel to the game, it implies seriousness while having a happy-go lucky side.

My Abstract Art

The elements and principles of my abstract art. The elements are the lines, shapes, colour, size, texture, value. The lines are what pull everything together. There are a lot of shapes. The colour also named hue of the colors all pull together. The sizes are that they all are different sizes. There are a lot of textures. The values of the art are all the different colors. The principles are balance,  repetition. The balance is that its all colored together. The repetition is all of the things together.

abstract

This is my abstract peace, in it i tried to incorporate as many of the elements of design as possible. I wanted to us the changing colors of red, to purple, to blue to catch to viewers eye. especially the little slivers of color in areas that don't belong. I also wanted the shapes to pop out more at you, and to also induct the swelling direction of the picture. Finlay I used the texture to make the picture pop out more at you and be more appealing. So that is my picture and I hope you like it.

Final Abstract

In my final abstract art piece I used many different elements of art and design. I have five major lines that draw the view's eye through the work. I used shape with the circles and ovals throughout. The lines differ in their direction; most are horizontal but one is vertical. In comparison to the lines each circle is fairy small, but some circles are larger compared to other circles. Some spots have a brushed, opaque texture. Also the colors vary between the blue, green, white, and purple. The value of the colors do change with the brighter greens and the darker greens.

Jesus and Halie

1) Yes they are successful in making the foreground, middle, and background. The rocks in the path where he is running is the foreground. The lava part would be the middle ground. The background is the bigger rocks.
2) They used three different colors for the rock and lava. They used the dithering technique to show the 3D effect of the rocks in the front, and the character itself. Its applying shape, texture, and value to the graphic.
3) This image has a line element to it. The rock has different lines going all around it. The ceiling above him is fairly simple with lines. There is a lot of different colors, red, yellow, brown(different shades of brown), and different shades of orange.
1) Yes because he has a back ground of walking in a city and the street is the foreground.

2) The artist created depth by giving shadow to the costume and the store front.

3) He used shape by making the store

Zombies ate my neighbors! Miranda & Michael

1. Yes because we can see the foreground being where the two zombies are in the background shopping to bring home bananas, and other various fruit to their house to lure in humans, the middle ground being where our main character is, Julie, where we see the little ghosties and another zombis, and of course the background being the freezer of the grocery mart, too bad zombies only eat brains!
2. To create depth in the objects. people etc, there is shading (or in pixel land; dithering!) If you look at our little zombie in the front we can see his legs (pants whatever) are dithered! The same goes for the little ghosties, and the walls.
3. Throughout the image, we of course can point out multiple lines that make up the floor, wall, etc, vertical and horizontal. The main shape we seem to have in the image would be squares.  As for the size, the walls are a little bit too short for the people, but it still looks fine. Many colors are involved in the image, the most eye catching seems to be the green, down where the food is.

My abstract pieces: the line is throughout the whole piece all of them are connected. There isn't really a shape used, it's fluffy so not really a shape. The direction, again, is not specific, the lines go horizontal and vertical. Shape, is all over. The fluffy lines are all different shapes, being wide or skinny. The texture seems to be a fluffy kind of texture. Makes it look feathery. In the top picture, bright vibrant colors are used and in the bottom one it's more of a newspaper effect. There is tons of value, there are bright and dark colors in the top one. And with the bottom one its black and white so plenty of value.

Abstract

The line I have in my abstract art project would be the mountain like shapes that are forming in the circles and on the side of the piece, there are horizontal and vertical lines here. A main shape I used in this would be circles, seeing as I have three main circles, then multiple ones 'dissolving' form them below. There are various colors in this piece, the main circles being blue, green, and red that are gradient, making the colors have different values. Then we have the background which is a purple gradient, and of course the white mountain like structures.

Logo Design

chavis abstract art

The elements of design i used is shape and color. I used shape by making the little shapes around the box thing in the center. Then I used color I wanted to really colorful then so on each layer i put a base color like black, blue, purple, and grey then I used the brush setting that puts a negitive color of that randomly on each on.

AcevedoAbstractArt

This is my piece of abstract art. The line is basically connected to each circle shown above(the small and big ones). The shape is clearly just used with Circles to make a odd shaped path within the art. As you can see, the circles do make a circular path all the way around, if you start from the top left of it. It flows between each circle until the biggest one, and the leafy background brings you back to the top left of the art. The majority of the circles are the same shape except for the one on the bottom right, the one in the far left, and all the little ones at the bottom. There are only 3 main circles that have an abstract texture to it(mosaic) that helps with the "eye movement". All the circles and leafs have different Hue because of the color variation throughout this art from green, to orange, to red, and to purple. The tone of this artwork is a little bit of both light and dark values. With its dark background, the circles bring out the colored view of it, which is what makes it particularly abstract.
I used shape in this piece a lot, from the random shapes in the back to the main point of view, I started all of these shapes from circles and morphed them into other shapes. Size in here is used by the eye its size in relation to the other shapes is large and the other shapes all have different sizes. so there really is no consistant size that is used in my piece its all random. There is sort of a glossy texture to all of the shapes in the back round and they have sort of a highlighted edge. I gave the eye texture by sort of making it blood shot. There is one shape in the bottom right hand corner that has a texture that is actually the entire piece shrunken down. Inception? I used blues, reds, yellows, oranges, purple for this piece. At first i was using to much purple and the colors didn't really go together well. I fixed this problem and i think the current color scheme looks much better. For value i have a gradation of blue for the back round which actually changes the colors all to go lighter or darker than the one before it.

Moore Abstract

In this abstract piece I made, I used different shapes to get across the things that I like. I love the idea of putting different shapes in one picture because I feel that it give it more of an interesting look. Your eye seems to move to different places on the picture. I also used different sizes to explain that some are closer, further away, some are on their sides, or are looking through from a different angle. I've created value by using the gradation tool to help create fun ways for this piece to look. Color and hue are a big piece on this, they help explain why I chose the shapes that I did. I chose the horizontal lines because It is tranquil, just like the colors. :)

Abstract Art

I used a line to create a mountain looking border between the sky and the water. I used another line to act as the shadow of the mountain which creates the border between the shadowy water and the water with the moon and starts reflecting. I used the shape of the line to make the viewer think of a mountain. The direction of the moons reflection are realistically placed. I used texture on the moons' reflections to make it look like there were ripples. The colors I used accent and contrast each other.

Abstract Work

These are my abstract pieces the first in my original, the second is with the "Neon Glow".

When creating my abstract piece I used most of the elements of art and design. I used value in everything even the background has value. I used multiple lines, but the most prominent line was the yellow curving line going through the piece. I used texture throughout the piece as well; the yellow line was one example. I had lots of shapes in my piece, lots of triangles and other just abstract pieces. Repetition I used when creating the triangles, I made lots of triangles in a repeating fashion. The lines and shapes seem to pull your eye through the work, and make it a more appealing piece.

This is my abstract piece. It contains many of the elements I talked about with the other abstract pieces I've found. It has depth, different lines both straight and curved, different highlights, and different shapes. It contains circles, and squares in many different sizes and colors. The piece will pull your eye right to the middle, where the darkest circle is. The piece also contains many different colors, such as green, black, red, violet-blue, red, and pink. There are many different values within each color.

Sanford Abstract Art

This abstract art has the elements of design and color. Line is used throughout this piece, it almost has a "honeycomb effect"and looks quite well. With shape you can see that there are big areas and then smaller ones that connect in a good way. Size is used, the main area is the lime green spot which when looked at takes the audiences eye. Texture and color both are used to add a colorful and very unique piece of art that i find came out well.

Wednesday, September 5, 2012

Abstract art is art that grabs your attention using shapes and focal points while maintaining flow.

In these tree abstract pieces what i love most is the color schemes and how well the pictures flow. The artists used very organic lines and shapes. The direction of how the images flow are all circular. The shapes do not take up the whole canvas but the rest of the area is filled in with complimenting colors and contrast. There seems to be a smoky feel to the paintings. All three pieces offer a full scale of warm and cold colors therefor giving the pieces a generic tone.

3 abstract pictures

Abstract art is art with no definite image, it is not a picture of something, instead it is a picture of nothing.

In the three pieces of abstract art I choose there are a few things I like in all of them. First I like how the artist's uses sharp lines and curves. Second I like how there is a wide range of values and how the artist's uses bright bursts of light colors. And third I like how the shapes seem to have some important meaning in the art that we do not know about.

Abstract Art

Definition: To me, abstract art is images created through repeated patterns, colors, or designs.

I chose these images because their art style really appealed to me.  The colors and patterns that they use look really cool.  The first image uses repetition in the colors and shapes throughout the painting.  The second image uses shape in its random designs. It also has some value.  The third picture uses value with its colors and resembles fire.
