A collage is a series of photos put together to make an entirely separate image such as this one:
This collage is made up of hundreds of photos taken from the Hubble Telescope to then recreate the famous painting, Starry Night.
On the other hand, a photo montage is when several photos are joined in one photo to create a different image as show here:
Different pictures such as the fire and airplane were added to one original photo.
Copyright infringement is using anything that has been protected by trademark without permission from the author.
Royalty free images are pictures that can be used by the pubic without violating copyright laws, so these should be used rather than other photos.
