1. Who: Find 3 early surrealist painters?
1. Max Ernst
2. Jean Arp
3 Salvador Dali
2. What: Choose a painting from each one of these painters and write a paragraph that depicts what you see.
Title: Two Children are Threatened by a Nightingale
Artist: Max Ernst
In this piece, I see what looks like a man holding a child on the roof of a small home. Off in the distance behind the home you can see an Arch and another Structure. Off to the left in the image, in the mid ground, I see a women running what looks like away from the house. Lastly, in the fore-ground, coming off the canvas, there is a fence.
Title:Head with Three Annoying Objects
Artist: Jean Arp
In this piece I see a rock that has a metallic texture to it. It seems to be sitting in just plain old grass somewhere. the title say "Head with Three Annoying Objects", I honestly don't see a "Head" anywhere, but I have to say, having those oddly shaped rocks on my head would get rather annoying after a while.
Title: The Persistence of Memory
Artist: Salvador Dali
This piece is probably the most intriguing of all I picked. I see many melting clocks, in the fore and middle ground. In the background there seems to be a cliff face or mountain of some kind. In the fore ground there seems to be a table or shelf of some kind that a branch of a tree is sprouting out of. There are in total, three melting clocks; one on the tree branch; one on the edge of the shelf; and one on a n object I can not figure out.

Most surrealist artist originated from Paris and it's surrounding area.
6. In your opinion, why is it important to our culture and our imaginations, for artist’s to provide such imagery to the public?
It gives everyone a different way of interpreting the world around us. If everyone viewed everything the exact same way, there would be no surrealism.
