Yes
the artist was successful in creating a foreground middle ground and
background. The main landscape is in the foreground. This in the ground that
the character is running on. The middle ground would be the pill box bunkers
just behind the main landscape. Finally the background is the forest you can
see way behind both of those. The artist added shading and layering to the
character model to make it look like some parts of him are farther back than
other giving him the illusion that he is 3D. The biggest Element that is used
in this piece is texture. The foreground looks rocky and the trees in the
background look like they have needles or leaves on them. All the stones and
bunkers have a gritty look to them to give them a more realistic feel.
